Hey there, we are Lance and Laura! We are so grateful that you are reading about us today. We hope you enjoy seeing a glimpse of our lives and to learn about us. We are excited about the prospect of being adoptive parents and welcoming another child to love, nurture, and raise in our family.

We met in 2005 through a mutual friend while at a local movie theatre. By 2009, we had both graduated from college and were working in our careers as a deputy sheriff and registered nurse. During the five years that we dated, we enjoyed spending time with friends and going to concerts and the beach. Much of our time was spent in the woods or at a pond, hunting and fishing together. When Lance proposed, it was no surprise when he drove to the woods and popped the question. We were married in March 2010 with all of our closest family and friends present and spent a sunkissed honeymoon in Jamaica.

Both of us grew up in large, tight-knit families, and knew that we wanted the same for our family. So, after two years of marriage, we started trying to have a baby. After months of fertility medication, we thankfully conceived and had our daughter, Ava Grace, in August 2013.

We have tried to grow our family, but have been unsuccessful. We love being parents and are so hopeful to welcome another child into our family through adoption!

Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.

FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

Getting the Garden Going

08/09/2022

Growing up in a farming community has been a great blessing to me. As a child, I can remember countless days out in the garden picking eggplant, squash, tomatoes, and okra from my papa's garden. Even picking a good, ripe watermelon and taking it to Papa to cut open. Memories I hold so near to my heart. And now, Ava Grace is getting to share those same experiences with her papa! Last week, Ava Grace helped my dad plant pumpkins to have in the fall. It literally melted my heart to watch her drop each seed while my dad raked the soil over top. These are the simple things in life Lance and I want our children to experience..learning how to produce with our own hands, watching the beauty of a garden growing, and most of all, spending time with family and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Summer Vacation

07/27/2022

Another summer is quickly fading and we are getting ready to gear up for Ava Grace to start school again! But, not before we make our yearly summer vacation to the lake. We just came back last week and had the best time with our friends and family. My parents were there, as well, and we loved having them there with us :) Ava Grace had all the fun doing water sports, playing in the water, and we all spent a good bit of time fishing. My mom and I even caught enough catfish to fry up for supper! And of course, we enjoyed a night making delicious s'mores over the fire. It really is just a time that we unwind from our jobs, sit out in the water all day and talk together, while the kids play and enjoy the water. And then come back to the lake house and eat the best supper meals together as one big family. We look forward to this week in July every year and can't wait to be back making more memories next year! Hopefully, with another little "water baby" to add to the fun!☀️

Easter 2022

04/17/2022

Easter has hopped itself right on in here! It's hard to believe April is almost over! We have spent this whole Easter weekend with both of our families..eating brunch on Saturday with my family, and spending the afternoon this Easter Sunday with Lance's side of the family. We really are blessed to be able to spend time with all of our family. Ava Grace has had fun ALL week long! Between church and family, she has went to three egg hunts and received four different Easter baskets filled with goodies💗💜💗 We got to spend time with one of our littlest cousins of the family(who is getting so big!) This was probably our favorite part...getting our dose of baby lovin'💕 We are still so excited and hopeful that maybe by next Easter, we will have our own "little bunny" to love on! Happy Easter y'all!

Disney Family Vacation 2022

02/28/2022

It's that time of year again! Every February, our family takes a trip to the happiest place on Earth. Disney! We did all the rollercoasters and ate all the dole whips and treats our stomachs could handle! Ava Grace is definitely fearless when it comes to riding the daring rides, and much to my surprise, I managed to endure the upside down rock-n-rollercoaster! It was a week of fun watching the parades, riding plenty of rides, and spending time with each other. Definitely reminiscing today, as we are back in the school and work grind, dreaming of sweet treats and all the magic we found at Disney. And hopeful that we can have another sweet little one to take along next year❤️🖤

Wedding season

10/17/2022

We have been so busy preparing for my sister's wedding and can't believe it's almost here!! If you've taken a look at our pictures, you see that I have a younger sister (Madison). For years, I prayed for a sibling. I would write out lists of ALL the things I'd do to help with a baby brother or sister if my mom would just have another baby. Fast forward to being twelve years old, my parents sat me down and told me that our family was growing and I would be a big sister💗 Prayers answered!! Now, I see the wonderful sister, daughter, and aunt that Madison is. She loves Ava Grace like her own daughter and Ava Grace never turns down an opportunity to spend time with Aunt Madison! So, here's to wedding season being in full swing with bridal showers and bachelorette parties 🤍
